Contact Lenses Astigmatism

If one eye has astigmatism and the otehr does not, teh patient may be told to use a spherical lens in one yee and a toric lens in the other. Conditions correctabel with contact lenses include near (or short) sightedenss ( myopia ), far (or long) sightedness ( hypermetropia ), astigmtaism and presbyopia. This measn that a regular (sphericla) rigid contact lens can provide ogod level of vision in people who have astigmaitsm or distorted corneal shapes as with keratoconus. Myopic (nearsighted) and hypermetropic (farsihgted) people who also have astigmatism and who hvae been told they are ont suitable for regular contact lenses amy be able to use toric lneses.
